Capes

Capes

The mystery of ‘Who the Red S is’ has begun.  Is he an escaped lunatic from a mental institution?  Is he a new character?  Is he Santa Clause bent on creating justice through vigilantism and citizen’s arrest?  Regardless of who the Red S really is, the mystery has only begun.

Speaking of the Red S, can you name the costumed he tried on before the Red S costume?  The third one might give you a little problem so here is a clue.  Back when Aaron Minier and I were in college together, we did a great little comic strip called Fred & Jesse.  You may have heard me mention it at some point.  There you go.  That’s your clue.  And if you need a better clue there is always this.

Fred & Jesse (episode 5) - The Dork Knight

I wanted to thank you guys for going over to Brandon Peat‘s website and looking into the children’s book, he and his wife did.  They have had sooooo many requests, submissions, and donations that they had to shut it down temporarily.  Good job everyone.  I’m proud of you!  If you did not get a change at the book, go check it out anyway.  I will let everyone know when and if it reopens.

Oh, and Happy Birthday to Beethoven.  You’ll have to look up Moonlight Senata via a link because I do not yet know how to get the youtube link play directly here at The Manor.  Moonlight Senata is my favorite of Beethoven’s pieces!  You might have to turn it up.  It is  a very quiet piece despite the fact that it was written while Beethoven was going deaf.  Actually, I like Beethoven above any other classical composer.  And not just because he was in Bill and Ted!

Monday I have a guest strip appearing on the comic The Deadlys.  A similar humor, but definitely not the same.  More on that Monday.

Have a good weekend everyone.  We’ll see you back here (and over at The Deadlys house) on Monday!

Bananas

In case you haven’t checked out the DeviantArt page yet this month, might want to do so. You can see the Christmas card that we sent out last year as a promotion . . . and this year to because I printed too many. If you have been over to the DeviantArt page this month, it is the same thing that has been up all December so don’t rush over thinking that there is something new and exciting.

from the book "A is for Ackbar"

Next up is a book by my friends Brandon and Emma Peat. They have a book out for a very short time called A Is For Ackbar (an alphabet from a galaxy far, far away). I am strongly encouraging you to go over to Brandon’s SITE and order this book (it is only available this December). This book is to help raise money for their son’s college fund. Tycho (who was born at the end of November) needs your help. So, weather you buy a book, buy a book for someone else, or just want to give a free will donation you can be reassured that you are helping someone along in their education.

Just to give you an example of how awesome this book is; my daughter, Anna, read through it 7 or 8 times Sunday alone. And she was running around the house saying Ackbar all day (according to my wife. I was at work so I missed out).

And because I like IG-88 so much (I got all kinds of excited when I saw him in the book), I am going to give you a quick preview of the art in the book.

I’m going to be pushing this book aaaallllllllllllll month long people, so you might as well go order a copy now, that way you can stop reading this over and over.

You know the worst part? I have 2 kids and I never thought of it.

Decomposing

Decomposing

This weekend my family and I went up to visit our friends Aaron and Jill Minier and Brandon, Emma, and their new son Tycho Peat.  You may have heard of some of these names before.

Aaron did artwork in the PUSH comic book, Fringe comic book, and his own comic Black Rose.  Aaron and I also used to do a little comic called Fred & Jesse, not to mention the fact that he did other comic strips.  And on top of all of that he is an accomplished illustrator and has done a guest strip for me shortly after my son Vincent was born and I blew my buffer.  He is my best friend in all the world . . . after my wife that is.

Brandon is also cartoonist and graphic designer.  Well he and his wonderful wife, Emma (who did a guest comic as well), had a little boy named Tycho.  And to try to decorate his room (and maybe start a college fund) they did the Star Wars alphabet.  Then they said – ‘Hey! Lets make it a book and sell it to raise money for this baby of ours.’  And so they came up with a great little book called A is for Ackbar.  I want you to go and look at this book.  And if you do not feel compelled to buy one for yourself or someone else – I want you too take a looooong hard look at your wallet and ask yourself ‘Do I really want it to be me that said no to a kid going to college to better himself?’

Go. Buy.
