Kaupe Part 8

Today is my son’s birthday.  The old man has turned 1 year old today.  He got a Cookie Monster plushie.

Luckily I had a little bit of a buffer last year, but after bringing him home, helping my wife with everything, and chasing my daughter around the house — well I lost my buffer.  So I had Aaron Minier and Brandon Peat of the comic book, Black Rose, to each do a strip that I had written.  And I had Emma Peat, do a third strip.  This let me get one strip done.

Happy Birthday Vincent. I love you!

What Is It Good For

What Is It Good For

Well, we are not dead.  But we did not make it up to see Aaron Minier and Brandon Peat and their families.

I spent the past two days digging out myself and my neighbor.  Guess what, I am still not done.  I have to dig out my cars and part of my front steps.  After digging through the sand-like snow and the ice (above and below the snow) my hands hurt incredibly.  Bad thing for an artist.

Enough about the weather.

There is a new post and journal entry over at DeviantArt for all of you to enjoy.  Go ahead and check it out.  Also, The Manor is on Facebook.  Just look us up under The-Manor Comic-Strip.  Feel free to friend us.  We are not on there often, but I do try to keep you up to date.

And thirdly, the second comic strip that I will be co-illustrating is in the beginning stages.  We have received scripts, we are working on  a name, and a rotation.  The single panel strips will go live next quarter.  I will be running the strips that I illustrate here as well.  They will not be in place of The Manor, but as bonus content.  I will see about getting  a page dedicated to those strips, but I can’t make any promises at this point as we are still working on a contract of what can and cannot be done with this work.

Well, looks like Shaggy and I have to go shovel more snow.  You can see how Shaggy feels about snow here 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Later gators.

Never Ending Day

Never Ending Day

Man, not being able to contact a loved one in a foreign county under turmoil would scare the bageezes out of me.

Happy Groundhog’s Day!  Did you ever see Groundhog’s day with Bill Murry?  Great movie.

I am writing this early because the family and I are supposed to go up to see our good friends Aaron and Jill Minier and spend the night with Brandon, Emma, and Tyco Peat.  That is if the weather lets us.  We are supposed to get over a foot of snow between Tuesday and Wednesday, and then ice over the top of that.

Aaron and Brandon work on the comic book Black Rose, a si-fantasy story.  I was going to sit and draw with them.   Not on Black Rose or anything; just to recharge the creative batteries.

You know how artists tend to work better when being around other artist, even if they are not of the same genre or medium?  That is a topic I could go on about for a nice long time.  But I am in the need to be around other artists.  My wife was a landscape artist at one point and really doesn’t do it any more.  And Anna, my 2 year old, only draws a little.  That is the extent of the artist around me.

I hope my family and I can make it up there and back safely.  If there is no update Friday, start to worry.  If there is no update Monday, presume us to be dead and go back and re-read the archives.  I will figure out a way to write, draw and upload as a ghost.
